The Mediterranean Olive-culture and Health Federation (Federation Mediterraneenne Oleiculture et Sante) or FEMOS was created in 2002 to establish a scientific research project with the goal of discovering ways to improve the nutritional quality of the olive oil produced by its members. It brings together olive producers and scientists concerned about quality and inspired by a desire for excellence.
The Association of Economic Interest (Groupement d'interet economique) or GIE « Olive-culture and Health » brings together a number of FEMOS members, who are combining their advertising and marketing efforts.
The technical protocol, leading to the production of the olives, and of the oils which are extracted from them, was designated by the scientific committee of FEMOS, and transcribed in a « Manual of Good Olive Culture Practices ». FEMOS has created a charter of quality, and has integrated it into its regulations in chapter 4.
Thus, the members of FEMOS, like those grouped together within GIE « Olive-culture and Health » have laid out a clear path to offer products complying to their expectations to the consumer : highly qualitative nutritional content quantified by scientific analysises, to which the pleasures of taste and aroma are added : products for a « joie de
vie » !
